Fresh water aquarium is easy to maintain than the salt water fish tank. Wanted to have an aquarium, buying it for the first time there are certain points one should remember before buying it.

While choosing an aquarium one has to determine the size as one has to decide and consider where this fish tank needs to be placed in your home, as it will help in a way to decide of which size an aquarium needs to be bought.

Next step would be to buy a fish for your aquarium. There are different kinds of fish , and it requires different care, space ,equipment and conditions. Its better to decide what fish you want so that the respective equipments can be brought related to it, otherwise it can prove to be a waste.

One has to decide what kind of fish he wants to keep, the best way to go for it is to go is through the fish guide books ,as it will help you to understand what type of fish it is? Like is it a small fish or big fish and this can help you to buy a perfect fish tank for your fish to keep it happy and healthy. This will also guide you to learn various traits of the fish .One has to decide the budget even to buy an aquarium.

When the equipments have been bought and everything is ready fill the fish tank with water and keep it, as it is, for couple of days to check everything is in proper order and there is no leakage and it is working properly. Then put in the fish as a starter fish which you decided.

Next 4-8 weeks one has to be patient as one has to take proper care of the fish, don’t over feed them, check the behavior of the fish closely, if necessary do the extra water changes, but don’t put extra fish into the tank at this point, till the cycle is not complete.

Lastly one has to maintain the aquarium, one has to check filters twice a week ,give proper feed as mentioned and observe daily, perform 10-15 %of water change every week. Check all the equipments are in proper order, check and clean if algae appears in the tank.

With keeping all this in mind you can enjoy the fun of maintaining a fish tank in the home.
