Vaccination

Usually we rear dogs for our protection,so it becomes our utmost duty to protect them from common diseases occuring in dogs.Some diseases may prove life threatening and some are of zoonotic importance i.e which can occor to man.We can protect dogs effectively from these diseases by proper vaccination.Some of important diseases are:-

RABIES:-

It is very fatal viral disease which can also occur in human beings from dogs.It is of two types:-
1.Furious form:-In this dog gets mad and tries to bite and attack other animals and human beings,feels restlessness,drooling of saliva,feels uncomfortable in walking and sound becomes coarse.
2.Dumb form:-dogs try to eject out tongue,salivation from mouth,difficulty in swallowing and drinking,running aimlessly here and there.

 

TREATMENT AFTER BITE BY A RABID DOG

1.Wash the wound made by rabid dog's bite,immidiately with soap water solution and pour on its wound with 70% ethyl alcohol or tincture iodine solution.
2.Infilterate antirabies serum all around wound.
3.Get vaccination.

CANINE DISTEMPER :-

It is second fatal viral disease after rabies in dogs.It generally affects 2-12 months dogs.Major symtoms are higs fever,anorexia,inflammation of gastro-intestinal tract,dehydration,conjuctivitis,vomitting,cough,watery discharge from nose,dysentry,pustules on lower part of abdomen,epilepsy like fits,staggering gait etc.

INFECTITOUS CANINE HEPATITIS:-

It's also a viral disease,caused by Adenovirus type-1Symptoms are mild fever,severe leucopenia,the area from head to inguinal region get highly inflammed,conjuctivitis,runs away from light,liver damage & dysfunction.Severe infections are fatal.

ADENOVIRUS TYPE-2:-

It causes respiratory disease,which leads to pneumonia & broncho-pneumonia and sometimes death.

LEPTOSPIROSIS:-

It is a bacterial infection which can also affect human beings.Symptoms are high rise of temperature,anorexia,vomitting,diarrhoea,jaundice,permanent kidney damage.It is very contagious and spread througs contact with nasal secretions,urine or saliva of infected animals.

PARVO VIRUS:-

It's a viral disease.Symtoms are severe vomitting,diarrhoea,inflammation of gastro-intestinal tract,hepatis,jaundice etc.

CORONAVIRUS:-

It is a contagious viral infection of gastrointestinal tract.Major symptoms are vomitting and diarrhoea.Young puppies are particularly susceptible to it.

PARAINFLUENZA:-

It is highly infectitous comman respiratory disease and part of kennel cough syndrome. It is not highly fatal but complication and death may occur with secondary infections.

VACCINATION SCHEDULE:-

First dose Booster dose After that
Rabies vaccine at 3 month age at 9 month age annually
Six in one vaccine at 6-8weeks age at 10-12weeks age annually
Corana vaccine at 6-8weeks age at 10-12weeks age annually
In addition to above vaccination,following vaccinations can also be done to pet.
1.Bordetella vaccine(Kennal cough)
2.Giardia vaccine
3.Measles vaccine
