Types of food

Flakes food: fishes generally like flakes and they are easy to use to as they usually float on the surface while the fish eat. It is considered as the main food source as it contains vitamins, minerals and other nutrients. A fish can easily digest them. It is always recommended to buy small containers instead of buying a jumbo container as it gets spoiled after a certain period. Goldfish flake food is different from tropical fish because goldfish nutritional needs are different. It is considered as the main food item for gold fish.

Pellet food: It has the same matter as the flake food the only difference is that it is compressed into pellets. Some of the pellet food contains only one type of ingredient like brine shrimp, when provided to goldfish it is like a treat for them.

Live food: Gold fish love live food, but one has to be extra careful as they can carry diseases which can be harmful for your fish.

Frozen food: Frozen food is the best way to provide live food to the fish. It is always recommended to buy small containers instead of buying a jumbo container as it gets spoiled after a certain period.

Home cooked food can also be a variety to offer a goldfish.

It should always be remembered not to over feed the fish, they should be fed twice a day. It is said that, put in as much food that the fish will consume in a two minutes time.
