If a fish is in a bowl, one must feed the fish daily. The water in the bowl should be changed every 2-3 days. One should remember that the use of soap for cleaning the fish tank should be avoided as it can be harmful for the fish.

If the fish tank is bigger, one must clean the fish tank at least once a week. One should also keep in mind that the water in the tank should not be drained out fully while cleaning. One must change a part of water replacing it with fresh water, and keep the fish tank/bowl away from doors, windows and heating systems so as to avoid and prevent the temperature changes. Keep a regular check on your fish and if the size of the fish increases change the tank. One has to keep the filters and t he air supplies ready for the respective type of fish.

Water quality has to be maintained while buying an aquarium; one should also buy the siphon and special kit from fish store so as to keep a check on the PH level, the ammonia, and nitrate in the water. As the chemical imbalance can be harmful for the fish.

One must remove the waste and the un eaten food from the tank daily with the help of a net, and one should not forget to clean the net before and after using it so as to prevent the infection.

Use of a canopy is essential over the tank as some of the fishes are very good jumpers. One must not over feed them; they should be fed twice a day. It is said that, put in as much food that the fish will consume in a two minutes time.
